    Some of you will have noticed that we now have a new point scoring system enabled on the server.

    This is quite a drastic change to gameplay so here’s all you need to know about the new point scoring system.

    The Problem…

    Default SoF2 only scores players on number of kills and or by the number of flag captures, whilst this works it is certainly not the fairest way to determine who has played the best during a game which those with a high number of kills during a CTF game can easily out rank players with less kills but have actually capped flags for their team.

    This makes it difficult for less skilled players or those focusing on capturing the flag to be acknowledged for their hard work and gameplay.

    The Solution…

    To even out the scoring system, we have added a number of additional ways to score points for gameplay events so that the scoring system is not just mostly relying on kills and rewarding players with high ratios.

    The new points options reward players more for gameplay events which encourages players to capture the flag instead of just camping for a good score.

    Current Point Scoring Options

    Killing Spree Rewards

    • Killing Spree 5pts
    • Rampage 10pts
    • Dominating 15pts
    • Unstoppable 20pts
    • Godlike 25pts

    Gameplay Awards

    • Capture Flag 5pts
    • Defend Flag 10pts
    • Drop Flag 15pts
    • End a Killing Spree 20pts
    • Get a Headshot 25pts

    More Points Coming Soon

    • Capture a Flag within first minute of the game.
    • Capture a Flag within last minute of the game.
    • Capture 5 or more flags in a game
    • Defend 5 or more flags in a game
    • Capture a flag while on a killing spree
    • Points for killing 2 or more in 0.0 seconds (nade)
    • Points for killing 2 or more in 0.0 seconds (nade)
    • Knife / Melee kill points
    • Deduct points for camping
    • Deduct points for spawnkilling
    • Add a point for voting yes/no
    • Revenge points for killing the last person that killed you.
    • Points for killing the person with the highest ratio.
    • Points for defending a flag and also capturing within 1 minute.
    • Points for killing someone while injured / healing.

    Conclusion

    Once all of the above points options are enabled it will provide a much fairer and dynamic way to score the game and add a whole new element to the gameplay meaning that less skilled players can still have a chance of being top of the scoreboard.

    One of the initial problems with the first test last night was how spammy the points were in the chatbox and centre of the screen, this has now been changed so that you only see your own point awards in the chatbox and centre of the screen, this will drastically reduce the number of messages displayed and makes more sense.

    There will still be a running log of the points awarded for all players in the console for you to check.

    We do understand that this is quite a drastic change and it will take a little time to get used to, but we truly believe that once this is fully implemented and the number of points awarded refined it will be fantastic and more in-line with modern games.
