rate is a Soldier of Fortune 2 console variable (CVAR) in the Network group. Maximum network bandwidth in bytes per second the client requests from the server. Its default value is "3000". The recommended value is "25000".

- The cfg default of 2500 is a dial-up era value. Broadband users should set this to 25000. Low rate causes packet loss and stuttering.
How to change it
Open the console with ~ and type the command:
seta rate "25000"
To keep the setting, put the same line (starting with seta) in your config file, such as sof2mp.cfg in the game's base folder.
