This Use Policy sets out what you may and may not do on SOF2MP.COM (the “Site”). It forms part of our Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who visits the Site, has an account, verifies a name or server, uses our data feeds or widgets, or takes part in our community channels.
SoF2 has a small, long-running community. Most of this policy simply asks you to play fair and treat people decently.
1. Lawful and fair use
Use the Site only for lawful purposes and in line with these rules. Do not use it in any way that breaks a law, infringes someone else’s rights, or harms the Site, its users, the game servers it tracks, or the wider SoF2 community.
2. Names, claims and verification
You must not:
- claim, or try to claim, an in-game name you do not genuinely use, or a server you do not own or manage;
- impersonate another player, clan, server owner or member of the Site’s staff, whether in your username, your profile or in-game while verifying;
- share, publish or display claim codes, or use someone else’s claim code;
- file disputes that you know are false, or use the dispute process to harass someone;
- create multiple accounts to get around claim limits, bans or other restrictions.
3. Profiles and other content
You must not add any content (profile pictures, taglines, bios, links, booking names and so on) that:
- is illegal, or promotes or assists illegal activity;
- is defamatory, threatening, abusive, harassing or intended to intimidate anyone;
- promotes hatred or discrimination against anyone because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or age;
- is sexually explicit or obscene. Anything that sexualises children is never allowed and will be reported to the authorities;
- contains someone else’s personal information (such as real names, addresses, phone numbers or photos) without their consent, or attempts to “dox” or expose anyone;
- infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights, including uploading images you do not have permission to use;
- links to malware, phishing pages, cheats or hacks, pirated software, or other harmful or misleading websites;
- advertises products or services, or is otherwise spam (see our Anti-spam Policy).
4. Statistics and fair play
You must not:
- deliberately manipulate statistics, rankings, achievements, records or predictions, for example by using bots or fake players, “boosting”, or arranging fake matches;
- promote, sell or link to cheats, hacks or exploits for the game;
- use statistics or player pages to harass, stalk or single out individual players.
Cheating on game servers is a matter for the people who run those servers. However, we may hide or remove statistics, achievements or verifications connected with clear abuse.
5. Security and technical rules
You must not:
- try to gain access to accounts, admin areas, databases or systems that you are not authorised to use;
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Site, or get around any security, rate-limit or authentication measure. If you find a security issue, please report it to [email protected] instead, and we will be grateful;
- upload or link to viruses, malware or any code designed to cause harm;
- overload the Site, for example with denial-of-service attacks, excessive automated requests or mass downloads;
- use the Site, its data or its links to attack, flood or disrupt game servers or the master server list;
- create accounts automatically or in bulk.
6. Downloads, data feeds and automated access
- Respect the fair-use limit on map downloads. Do not use download managers, scripts or multiple addresses to get around it, and do not mirror the whole archive without asking us first.
- Map files belong to their authors. Do not sell them or remove author credits.
- Our public JSON API and widgets may be used for non-commercial community projects, with a credit link to SOF2MP.COM. Cache results and keep requests to a reasonable rate (no more often than every couple of minutes).
- Do not scrape the Site in bulk, rebuild or resell our database, or combine our data with other information to identify the real people behind in-game names.
7. Community channels
These standards also apply to anything posted in the Site’s community spaces, such as our Discord server, alongside that platform’s own rules.
8. Reporting a problem
If you see content or behaviour that breaks this policy, use the report or dispute option on the Site where one is available, or email [email protected] with a link and a short explanation. For copyright complaints, please follow the process in the Copyright and DMCA section of our Terms.
9. What we may do
We do not monitor everything on the Site, but we may review content and activity at any time. If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken, we may, with or without notice:
- edit, hide or remove content;
- remove verified names, aliases or server verifications;
- hide, correct or remove statistics, achievements or predictions;
- block access from particular addresses or to particular features;
- suspend or delete accounts;
- report illegal activity to the police or other authorities and cooperate with lawful requests for information.
We will act fairly and in proportion to what has happened. If you think we got it wrong, contact us and we will take another look.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version, and the version on the Site at the time of your use applies.
